The Terragate Process

Tumbled. Washed. Dried.

Around the world, most aggregate is simply crushed, screened and bagged. Ours goes three steps further — because resin bound flooring is only ever as good as the stone that goes into it. We are one of the only aggregate manufacturers in the world who tumble, wash and dry every stone before it is supplied and exported.

STAGE I

Tumbled

Freshly crushed stone has sharp, angular edges that resist the trowel and feel harsh underfoot. Tumbling rounds every chip into a smooth, pebble-like form — the aggregate spreads evenly, finishes cleanly and gives the surface its luxurious, cobbled-silk texture.

STAGE II

Washed

Dust and fines are the silent enemy of resin bound surfacing — they cloud the finish and weaken the bond. Washing strips every chip clean, so resin grips bare stone. The result: truer colour, a stronger matrix and a surface that stays beautiful.

STAGE III

Dried

Moisture trapped in aggregate reacts with PU resin, causing foaming and cloudiness. We kiln-dry every batch, then seal it immediately into laminated woven bags — so the stone that reaches your site mixes exactly as it should, every time.

Clean, round, dry stone is what separates a good resin bound floor from a flawless one.

Sealed At Source

Packed To Protect.

Drying the stone is only half the job — keeping it dry is the other. Every Terragate aggregate ships in a purpose-built 25 kg bag engineered for handling, transport and storage on site.
